Well well, first upload of 2009! =D And it's steampunk!

Well sorta. This is one of three robot worker character designs I did for my illustration course. The brief actually had nothing to do with robots; all I had to do was pick three careers from a list, and design some characters based on those careers.

But I like a challenge :3 So I went with steampunk (victorian robotic) styled house staff: Chef Wilgam, Childminder Modessa, and Chambermaid Obaan.

So zis is Wilgam (just a twisted version of William, heh). I'm quite chuffed with the detail and metal plating - and the fact that I managed to save it just before my blasted laptop froze O.O

However, I know there are quite a few mistakes (The wheel ... the bloody wheel ...) but I'm happy with the result.
What do you think? =3

Thank you very much! There was indeed a lot of thought behind each of his bits and pieces ^^ Especially the damn wheel, and the hands, took a lot of re-thinking before the final version.

And omg, ze king of metal rendering likes my metal rendering! O.O HOORAY! \o/ Hehe. Cheers.

Lol I read chef wilgam as cheif wigam and was completely puzzled for aminute there.
He looks fantastic, i love the retro chrome finish - ever read any Issac Asimov? I love the humanity and realism he imports into his robots-even in few page long short stories-i think you chef would fit right in :)

Lmao, I didn't notice that >.<

Thank you very much, and incidentally I was inspired by Barukurii [link] who is a big fan of Asimov! I've read a couple of his short stories and he does indeed create wonderful characters.

I certainly hope Wilgam would fit in one of his works X3 Glad you like him :D

Wow that's really cool! Where can I get one of these?? Loving the detail work esp. the tea towel - can't really see anything to criticise so you must've covered up your 'so-called mistakes' pretty well! :D
