Self Portraits - Realistic?

Just finished these yesterday and had them criticised today in Illustration 'Life Drawing' class ^.^ I don't think they look very much like me, more like they resemble me somewhat But I think stylistically and technically they're pretty good.

With the first I went with the class' requirement of 'different hairstyle' and used my OVER 9000 scouter to make it more interesting. It was drawn with brown pencil then coloured with Copics and moar brown pencils. I cheated with the background and used a stick of black crayon to rub the texture from my uni-bedroom wall >.<

The second went with the requirement of 'wearing a hat' and I also tried a more dynamic lighting by using a dark bathroom and a shiny shiny lamp aimed from below =3 The light burst is supposed to represent the shine of the lamp on the bathroom door but meh. I only used black pencil for this one (except for black marker for the background), and a more 'blockish' patchworky shading style. I'm quite chuffed with how the hand came out =O

Both are A2 and took a helluva long time (considering it was life drawing and not drawing from a photo ¬_¬ ) but they were both lotsa fun to do.

Oh and speaking of life drawing, I maaay or may not submit my life drawing class work for DA =/ There's quite a lot all rolled up under my bed -_-;
